Maytag Commercial Meeting

Unearthing the legacy of George A. Romero's "Night of the Living Dead."

2013 is proving to be a year of milestones at Applied Art, and one of those milestones includes Karri Higgins' 25th consecutive Maytag Commercial Laundry
Annual Meeting. Karri heads up Black Cat Productions, a one-woman powerhouse of event production and support services housed in Applied Art. She works
closely with founding partner Mark Wilke on event and meeting production. So closely, in fact, that they often spend day and night together (they've
been happily married for 24 years).

Karri has worked on Maytag events since the late 1980's. Her first Commercial Laundry meeting in 1989 was in Orlando, which was also the first event for
the then new Ol' Lonely Maytag Repairman, Gordon Jump.

This year's 55th Maytag Commercial Laundry Annual Meeting took place at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort in Amelia Island, FL. This year's meeting
had a unique challenge. The hotel was finishing up an $85 million dollar renovation. And although the hotel had promised completion well before the start of the meeting, they were still under construction when the team showed up. But the meeting went off without a hitch and included General Sessions, an Awards Dinner, Breakouts and a Trade Show Expo, which included a complete Coin Laundry Store built in the ballroom!

Check out this time-lapse video of the set up process of the main ballroom to see the many parts of the meeting coming together. Pay close attention because
coming soon to our Facebook page: A name that ballroom carpet contest!
